  • Who We Are

    Little about us

    The Club

Toca Juniors Football Club ® (Toca Jrs or the Club) is an institution that fosters the physical and social development of its members through their participation in organized soccer leagues and sports related events. The Club was formed in 1996 and was incorporated in Maryland in 2007 as a 501(c)(iii) non-profit organization.

Currently, the club is staffed by a Club President, Club Director, Club Secretary, Coordinator of Youth Divisions, Director of Coaching & Player Development, Youth Girls Coordinator, Goalkeeper Coach, Physical Training Coach and 14 part-time coaches. The club boosts twenty youth teams (ages 9 to 19). This accounts for approximately 250 youth players (140 Boys & 110 Girls) and 50+ adult players that also play soccer on an informal basis.
    Our Mission Statement

Toca Juniors Football Club ® mission is to enhance the soccer development of our players, also creating a lifelong relationship between the club and its members (families and players).

    Athletic Development
A set philosophy that goes beyond a single coach● Analogy to home schooling● Defined soccer style (teamwork and technical development)● Character development, sportsmanship
Finding the right coaches● We focus on this aspect● We recruit coaches that are familiar with the club
Providing the right level of competition (always!)
Coaches just focus on player development (club management takes care of the rest)
Two teams per age bracket● Enhances training opportunities● Facilitates activities during the off-season
Flexible structure● You can move among the two teams● Playing with older players
Presence of adult teams as role models
    Our Name
Toca: This word comes from the Spanish verb 'to touch'. If used in the context of a football match it simply means 'to pass' the ball. Taken in a larger context, a 'Tocadita' or 'Toca' represents a style of football. A style that relies equally on skill and team work where the joy for the game is the epicenter.
Juniors: Players that come under this structure do so to learn, to develop and absorb from their senior counterparts.
Football: The English word is used because we admire and identify with the English professionalism and rectitude towards the sport. The dedication, organization and effort is something we continually look to implement and shadow.
Club: It's not just a team, it's a family of people who love to compete, to exercise, and more importantly to share their friends and family by attending games, professional matches, barbeques and all sorts of social events organized by the club.

    About Tryouts

You have probably taken the MSI evaluations test!!

Now comes the best part: Its your turn to choose a team!! Classic level. Please come and join us at one of our tryouts. It will be a great chance to meet our coaches and learn more about our club.

    Where is the club based?

Most of our players live in Maryland. We hold practices in the Bethesda/Potomac area. Exact field locations will be posted on the website once the appropriate permits are sent out by the park services.

What league does Toca Juniors Football Club ® participate in?

Almost all of our teams play in MSI-Classic Program, which is the competitive arm of MSI (Montgomery Soccer Incorporated). For more information on the league please visit: http://www.msisoccer.org . Other team(s) participate in the Easter Development Program (EDP) , giving the Club players an opportunity to play in a more competitive league.

Is Toca Juniors Football Club ® a travel club?

All of the games played for MSI are in the Montgomery County area. Toca Juniors F.C occasionally takes part of State tournaments depending schedule availability. The only games that may be played including travel are for the team(s) participating in the EDP League.

What else can I do as a potential player?

In order to compete in the league, every player has to pass a player-evaluation “test” which is conducted by the league. This is a requirement. You cannot be signed onto a team unless this has been successfully completed.

    What is the player evaluation?

The MSI-Classic program looks provide the appropriate competitive atmosphere where players will excel and develop their soccer skills. Thus the league has set a minimum level of aptitude for the kids to complete consisting of an afternoon practice where basic drills are conducted. Their skills are evaluated and compared to the rest of the cohort. For details please visit: http://www.msisoccer.org .

Can Toca Juniors Football Club ® help with the player evaluation?

The evaluations are conducted by volunteer coaches and we have no influence in the process. But if you are interested in playing for us and are planning on attending please let us know. We can offer details on scheduling and other administrative issues. I have attended the evaluation and have NOT completed it successfully… If you have a true love for the sport and would really like to participate, we can sign you up as a wild card player. If you work hard you may be able to develop the skills necessary for to compete in the league.

What is a wild card player?

Each team has three wild cards, that is, three players can be signed up that have not passed the player evaluation. We intend to use these on players that may have been away from the sport or we think that can contribute significantly to the team in some form. We don not intend to use them for players that have simply avoided the evaluation. All players should attend this session, they are very important for the league and for us.

When is Toca Juniors Football Club ® holding tryouts?

You should contact us directly and we will let you know of times and dates as we see them necessary. As we have not started holding regular practices, we cannot provide a list of dates and times.

How often does Toca Juniors Football Club ® practice, and Which days?

We will hold two practices a week. The days of the week depend on the consensus of the team and the coach. We normally recommend Tuesdays and Thursdays, but it makes no sense to hold a practice if most players cannot attend. We are flexible.

    Can I meet the coaches?

A great way is to attend one of their games and see them in action!! Check our website or send us an email. You can chat with them after the game and get a Costl for his voice and how he explains himself. Remember, if you are going to join the club, you will listen to that voice week in and week out!.

  • About Our Club

    History

    Our origins, experience and project

Established in 1996, the Club came to life as a simple indoor team organized by a few mates who shared the passion for football and competition. At the time, most of the founding members were involved in other competitive teams but felt that there was something missing. In the search for more than passes and goals, the club quickly built a reputation for its camaraderie. As the seasons progressed and the interest grew it moved into 11 aside leagues where it quickly conquered their first championship (we are still awaiting for the trophy thou...!) The team originated from a heavily Hispanic group; thus the Hispanic name. It has since evolved into a club where anyone with a passion for football Costls at home. Currently the Club is represented by more than dozen nationalities.

    Our Adult teams

Our adult teams are an intricate part of the club. La Tocadita (as our adult teams are called) provides opportunities for adults to compete and engage in the game and in the club. Many parents of youth players and club directors actively participate in these teams. Likewise, most of our coaches currently sport the club's NAVY BLUE uniform! We encourage youth team players to attend these games as they can see their own coaches play. They will have the opportuntity to absorb the passion for the game as well as learning the technical aspects of adult competition.

    Our experience with youth teams

The initiative to create the Club Structure is driven by the great experience we had with our first youth team.We guided a core group of players for 7 years until the "boys" (now turned men) departed for University. This superb trip (numerous championships and sportsmanship awards) left us with plenty ideas as to how to repeat the experience on a personal level - where we shared practices, games, college application processes, BBQs and much more - as well as how to improve on the training and athletic development we provide. We invite you to read through our philosophy section.

    What we seek

The resulting game plan has been to develop a proper club structure, thus we have integrated our youth teams to our adult divisions. The initiative is well on its way as it can be seen in our website were you can get a Costl of where we are headed and the general atmosphere we provide. The core concept and essence is to train two teams together. We believe that this will give more liberty and alternatives in terms of conducting drills, scrimmages and competitive games during practices. We think that by pooling our efforts and creating a single atmosphere kids will bond more as they will Costl part of something more significant, with more presence.

    About Our Club

    History

    Coaching Philosophy

To further explain the goal of pooling our coaching efforts, we find that an aspect that can greatly enhance the development of a child is the variation of drills and exercises; repetitiveness can create a stale atmosphere and can also lead to overdeveloping certain aspects of a player while leaving others unattended. We find that when we coach together, the presence of various licensed coaches leads to more variation and a “fresher” more enthusiastic practice. Furthermore, as one coach leads the effort in organizing and setting the tone of the practice, the other coaches can approach players individually to offer one-on-one support making the atmosphere more relaxed and friendly. Often the problem with a one coach approach is that the coach is too busy giving explanations and commands, instead of relaxing and getting to know the players. Lastly, having multiple coaches allows us to avoid the involvement of parents on the practice itself. We find that as helpful as they are, a licensed coach who has extensive experience coaching and playing is a much better alternative as an assistant coach than a parent.

Enhancing our abilities in teaching/coaching young children

Many players from our U19 group will be attending Universities in the area, allowing them to continue their involvement with the club by playing in our adult divisions. They have also expressed their interest in helping out with our youth divisions. This is an invaluable resource, as they know the atmosphere and spirit of the club, making them the perfect ambassadors as we transmit our soccer culture to our newcomers. Kids are normally consciously or unconsciously looking for role models. Superstars and professional athletes can be excellent examples, but on practical terms, a child cannot implement aspects of these figures into their day-to-day activities and personal lives. A coach is a great role model as well, but sometimes due to age difference they can seem a bit distant. Kids often relate-to and are more open to suggestions from young adults as they see them as older brothers and not as “parents”. Under our club structure, the kids have an easy time developing a good a rapport with our alumni as a clear bond exists. This relationship becomes an additional avenue for communication and integration.

    Team Training Program.

Players train as regular squad members with our teams. They will take part of all drills, scrimmages and friendly games. A unique opportunity with limited spots available per age group. This is a great opportunity for your son/daughter to prepare for competitive soccer and to be part of the club as he transitions into our regular programs. Please note that we do not guarantee a spot on our regular squads after taking part of this program. Nevertheless, since rosters expand as teams move up on age brackets, there will be opportunities.

    Summer Soccer Program.

Staying active during the summer will ensure that all the your son/daughter received during the spring season, are not forgotten, plus he will end up the summer session, having learned new skills.

    Minis Soccer Program (U4-U8).

The coaching level is as supportive and professional as any I have encountered in 10 years of kids sports. This is vital time for my daughter and has helped the practice of this very specialized position. Keep up the great work!

    November 24, 2014

They all are organized and they have a high energy level. It is really easy to communicate with Toca.

    November 20, 2014

My daughter is very shy and was lacking confidence. Coaches help her with her confidence and she has come a long way. She learned a lot and had fun.

    July 17, 2013

  • Who We Are

    Little about us

    Our origins, experience and project

Established in 1996, the Club came to life as a simple indoor team organized by a few mates who shared the passion for football and competition. At the time, most of the founding members were involved in other competitive teams but felt that there was something missing. In the search for more than passes and goals, the club quickly built a reputation for its comraderie.

This superb trip (numerous championships and sportmanship awards) left us with plenty ideas as to how to repeat the experience on a personal level - where we shared practices, games, college application processes, BBQs and much more - as well as how to improve on the training and athletic development we provide.

CAMPAIGN #somoslovefutbol

love.fútbol is launching its end of year campaign, focused on recurring contributions starting at 5 dollars/month. In our first 8 years of operations, love.fútbol focused its efforts on the methodology and reach.love.fútbol has been able to accomplish a lot reaching 18 thousand youth in Guatemala and Brazil, but they have realized that, before expanding, they should be able to invest on LF operational structure and maintenance of the organization. Through the campaign #somoslovefutbol, we hope to secure LF office structure for a year and invest in LF discovery team, which would allow us to map out more than five potential communities per year. In case you are interested in supporting, please click HERE >> https://recorrente.benfeitoria.com/somoslovefutbol to quickly register. The contributions will be made automatically, through a credit card.#TOCA #PLAYsimple #contributions #soccer #Development
